Cubism

Figma  I  Photoshop  I  Visual Studio Code

The Cubism website was meticulously coded with HTML and CSS, ensuring both the mobile and desktop versions deliver a user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing experience. HTML provided the structural foundation, organizing content in a meaningful way, while CSS was employed to refine the visual presentation and ensure responsive design across various devices.

I drew inspiration from this moodboard, which is steeped in the essence of Cubism, to inform the color palette of the website I designed and coded.

The website design uses deep blue to highlight important text, sky blue for a calming background, and light gray to keep the focus on content, achieving a modern look that complements the Cubist artwork showcased.

The website utilizes Abril Fatface for its titles, imparting an elegant and impactful presence that captures the viewer’s attention, while the body copy is set in Roboto, ensuring readability and a clean, modern aesthetic that supports the overall design.

The layout is intentionally clean and minimalistic, echoing the geometric simplicity of Cubism and allowing the artwork to take center stage.

This balance of form and function in coding results in a website that’s both an educational resource and a tribute to the revolutionary art style it represents.

Reflecting on the project

It is clear that merging Cubism with web design was a challenging yet rewarding endeavor. The key lesson learned is the delicate balance between aesthetic appeal and functionality, crucial in making art accessible and engaging in a digital space. In future projects, experimenting with interactive elements could deepen the user’s engagement with the art, adding an educational dimension.

This project not only paid homage to Cubism but also showcased the potential of web design as a canvas for artistic expression, offering valuable insights for future creative pursuits.
