Marine Invertebrate Collection

The selected exhibition for the project is the Marine Invertebrate Collection featured at the Beaty Biodiversity Museum. The project will be used as a promotional tool to attract visitors to the Marine Invertebrate Collection exhibit.

The design challenge focuses on conveying comprehensive information about the Marine Invertebrate Collection through print and online applications such as brochure, poster, magazine article, magazine and online ads with the clear objectives of creating visual appeal and providing informative content.

For the brochure, I used a two-column layout which provides a structured and organized format for presenting information. This format allows for a logical flow of content, making it easy for the audience to follow the details about the exhibit. The use of consistent color tones ( #faae57 and #b8723d) and typefaces (Lato for body text, Garamond Premier Pro for headlines) enhances the overall visual cohesion of the brochure.

The chosen colors evoke a sense of positivity and warmth, inviting visitors to explore the fascinating world of marine invertebrates. The use of two typefaces is strategic in enhancing readability and hierarchy, with the sans-serif font being easy to read for body text and the serif font adding a touch of elegance to headlines.

I designed this poster with a minimalist aesthetic to captivate and inform viewers about the Marine Invertebrate Collection, inviting exploration and discovery.

The print article is crafted to highlight the Beaty Biodiversity Museum’s Marine Invertebrate Collection, with a straightforward single-column design and oceanic illustrations for easy reading. Text and graphics are positioned with the fold in mind, ensuring clear visibility and a natural flow that guides the reader through the content.

In this ad, my design highlights the allure of the Beaty Biodiversity Museum’s Marine Invertebrate Collection, inviting viewers with a visually striking specimen and a minimalist layout to spark curiosity and discovery.

In crafting these Instagram ads for the Marine Invertebrate Collection, I’ve optimized the visual impact for digital mediums, ensuring that the engaging design and call to action are perfectly tailored for both the post and story formats to maximize viewer engagement and interest.

Reflecting on the project

The project promoting the Marine Invertebrate Collection was a great success. The design choices, particularly the color palette and typefaces, effectively drew in the audience. In future projects, exploring interactive digital elements and innovative print techniques could enhance engagement further.

A key lesson learned is the importance of consistency in design across various media to maintain brand identity. This experience has offered valuable insights for applying a strategic yet simple approach to design in future projects.
